Pestosi: A Whimsical Display Font That Brings Charm to Branding
Performance Across Design Formats
- Website Header: Used in a hero section with a soft background image, Pestosi gave the homepage a boutique feel. It worked well at larger sizes, but I wouldn’t recommend it for body text or navigation menus.
- Social Media Layouts: Perfect for Instagram stories and Pinterest graphics. The charm and clarity of the font made headlines and callouts stand out without competing with the visuals.
- Printed Materials: Business cards and thank-you tags looked lovely. The font’s character came through even in small print runs.
- Poster Design: I mocked up a seasonal sale poster and used Pestosi for the main headline. It added a sense of fun and approachability that aligned well with the brand’s new direction.
Pairing Pestosi with Other Typefaces
- Sans Serif: Using a modern sans like Montserrat or Lato for body text created a clean contrast that kept the design from feeling too busy.
- Serif: For a more traditional boutique feel, I tested it with a light serif like Playfair Display. The contrast between the whimsical Pestosi and the elegant serif added visual interest.
- Script Fonts: I avoided pairing Pestosi with other script fonts, as that can easily become overwhelming. However, a light cursive as a small accent (like a tagline or flourish) worked nicely.
